An
Alaska Gas Pipeline Questions may appear on a
2012 ballot in the state of
Alaska. The advisory questions was first proposed for the 2010 ballot. The measure would to ask
Alaska voters whether or not to use state money to fund a gas pipeline, using $6 billion from general obligation bonds.
2011 state legislative session ended without the measure being sent to the ballot, however, it could still make the ballot during 2012 session.
[1]
The proposal was introduced by Representative Mike Chenault and was co-sponsored by Representative Jay Ramras in 2010. That measure was referred to the Finance Committee on February 5, 2010. It did not make the 2010 ballot, however. The 2012 version is being introduced by State Senator Lesil McGuire. If sent to the ballot and approved, the legislature would not be bound to implement the measure. Since the measure is an advisory question, it would only serve as a tool for legislators to push for the gas pipeline.[2][3]
