HONOLULU, Hawaii Hawaii's chief election officer has said that it would be too late to start over on the redistricting process should the current maps be thrown out.[1]
The primary date is currently set for August 11, 2012. However, there is currently a lawsuit which alleges the maps violate the Constitution's equal protection clause by excluding over 100,000 military members, their families, and college students.[1]
A 9th Circuit Court judge panel will hear arguments on Friday and could rule shortly after. The decision could possibly delay the primary and impact the November 6 general election.[1]
