John Andrew Boehner (b. November 17, 1949) is a Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives from the state of Ohio. Boehner was first elected by voters from Ohio's 8th congressional district in 1990.

Based on an analysis of bill sponsorship by GovTrack, Boehner is a "rank-and-file Republican".[1]

Biography

Boehner was born in West Chester, Ohio. He earned his B.S. from Xavier University in 1977.[2]

Boehner is running in the 2012 election for the U.S. House, to represent Ohio's 8th District. He defeated David Lewis in the March 6 Republican primary and is unopposed in the November 6 general election.

The Washington Post listed the House of Representatives elections in Ohio in 2012 as one of the states that could determine whether Democrats retake the House or Republican holds its majority in 2013.[5] Ohio tied with Pennsylvania for 9th on the list.[5]

2010

On November 2, 2010, Boehner won re-election to the United States House of Representatives. He defeated Justin A. Coussoule (D), David A. Harlow (Libertarian), and James J. Condit, Jr. (Constitution) in the general election.[6]
