Montenegro earned his AA in Theology from Logos Christian University. He went on to receive his BS in Political Science from Arizona State University in 2004.
Montenegro has worked as constituent caseworker for United States Representative Trent Franks. He has also been employed as a teacher for both Superior School and Arizona Charter Academy.
Issues

Elections
2010
Montenegro won re-election to the 12th district seat in 2010. He and Jerry Weiers were unopposed in the August 24 primary election. They defeated Democrat Angela Cotera and Green Party candidate Justin Dahl in the November 2 general election.[2]

On November 4, 2008, Montenegro and Jerry Weiers were elected to the 12th District Seat in the Arizona House of Representatives, defeating opponents Eve Nuñez (D), David Scanlon (D), and Celeste M. Castorena (Green).[3]
Montenegro raised $100,141 for the campaign, Weiers raised $72,878, Nuñez raised $40,312, Scanlon raised $41,887, and Castorena raised $59,727.[4]
